Empty beach - Whale Coast - Bahia - Brazil

This is our longest tour so far and it will take you on a journey to the heart of the state of Bahia and back, crossing 4 different states. We will follow the coast to the north crossing the states of Rio de Janeiro and the whole of Espirito Santo, with it's remarkable pedra azul and its astonishing views of the coffee valleys. Then we head into Bahia, with its pristine beaches, the whale coast, where we have the chance to see humpback whales. We will visit the exact same place where the Portuguese explorer Pedro Alvarez Cabral first set foot on Brazilian soil back in the year 1500. Following the coast further north, we come across many small fishing communities and also some of the most famous surfing spots of Brazil.

Chapada Diamantina - Central Bahia- Brazil

We leave the coast behind and head inland to visit the Chapada Diamantina, Bahia's most famous national park, also known by some as Brazil's lost world. With its weird and fantastic rock formations, a system of quartzite caves with crystal clear lakes and underground rivers, mountains and valleys with hundreds of waterfalls, this 152.000 hectare park is the perfect setting for some of the wildest eco-adventures in Brazil. After exploring the park, we head back south, to the state of Minas Gerais, and follow the Jequitinhonha river all the way up to Diamantina, from where we take the historic route further south, via some of the most important historical cities in Brazil, back to our starting point.
